Concrete Foundations

EIA Control Tower

When EllisDon was contracted to build the new Control Tower at the Edmonton International Airport they chose Grey Lion to do the concrete formwork. This project had a little of everything; mass pours, radius walls, nickeled walls, post tension reinforcing, micro piles, one sided forming, and much more. In spite of challenging site conditions, all walls and anchor bolts were placed with precision and accuracy to ensure successful construction of the tower and concourse.

Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital

Grey Lion was contracted to install the foundations for the new community hospital in Fort Saskatchewan. The project had over three thousand lineal feet of gradebeam, stair tower, elevator tower, retain walls and architectural columns. Once again, Grey Lion complete all work with accuracy and precision with not one anchor bolt or embed plate out of tolerance. For the stairwell and elevator towers Grey Lion utilized Peri Formwork Systems.

GFL Site Work

GFL wanted to fill heavy traffic areas on their sites with concrete. Grey Lion completed over 60,000 sqft of exterior slab on 2 of the Edmonton area building sites. This job included removal of up to 1M of material, installation of crush and rebar as well as placing 6” of concrete. This project had a tight schedule and Grey Lion was able to deliver despite the challenges of heavy truck movement and busy operations on both sites.

Ross Creek Medical Centre

Ledcor Construction contracted Grey Lion to complete the foundations for the new Professional Centre in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Ross Creek Medical Centre has an underground parking facility, four storey cast in place elevator shaft, five storey cast in place stairwells with cast in place stairs.

Grey Lion utilized in-house gang forms to complete the 11’ foundation walls, and used Aluma Beam forming system for the suspended slab and drop pans. For the concrete towers (over sixty feet high) Grey Lion used a forming system from Western Forms, completing one week pour cycles for two simultaneous towers.

TAPV

This project for the CFB Edmonton was subcontracted to Grey Lion through the Ellis Don Construction. This project consisted of over 2000 linear feet of 4’ & 5’ grade beams some walls up to 3’ wide. This building which will hold the Army Tanks on base as well as allow the Army to repair damage or replace parts.
